Canada Engages with the World: Realizing Our Potential through International EducationNovember 14—18, 2011During the week of November 14-18, 2011, Canada is joining over 100 countries to celebrate International Education Week (IEW). IEW showcases the significant contribution that international education makes to our social, economic, and cultural well-being and supports Canada’s ongoing efforts to engage on the international stage. “Canada Engages with the World: Realizing Our Potential through International Education” is Canada’s theme for IEW 2011. It underscores the value that Canadians place on connecting with the world through studying abroad, internationalized curricula, and international service, and on opening the world to Canada by welcoming international elementary, secondary, and postsecondary students, promoting international exchanges, and encouraging qualified foreign students to make Canada their new home. IEW is made possible with the participation of education stakeholders from across the country. During the week-long celebration, events are organized by individuals, schools, colleges, universities, associations, businesses, governments, and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), to raise the profile and highlight the value of international education. So mark your calendars for IEW 2011 — and if you’re planning activities to celebrate the benefits of international education, let us know so we can tell the world about them, right here on the IEW Web site! |
